What the 2020 paper proposed

The paper proposes that repeatedly encountering a falsehood changes the moral judgment of spreading it. In its experiments, two of them preregistered, lower perceived unethicality went with greater willingness to approve of a headline online, and repeated headlines were shared more than new ones. The authors suggest that repetition can make blatant misinformation feel intuitively true, which reduces moral condemnation.
